Could a cancer drug replace surgery for cervical precancer?

NCT ID NCT04712851

First seen Mar 11, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tests whether the immunotherapy drug pembrolizumab can help the immune system clear high-grade cervical precancerous cells, potentially avoiding surgery. About 25 women with CIN 2 or 3 (moderate to severe cervical precancer) will receive the drug and be monitored for 6 months to see if the abnormal cells disappear or shrink. The goal is to control the disease and prevent it from becoming cancer.
