New combo therapy targets hard-to-treat stomach cancers

Summary

This study tests whether adding the immunotherapy drug pembrolizumab to standard chemotherapy and radiation before and after surgery can help prevent stomach cancer from coming back. It is for people with specific genetic types of stomach cancer (mismatch repair deficient or Epstein-Barr virus positive). The trial enrolled 40 adults with operable stomach cancer and will track how many remain cancer-free three years after treatment.
