Summary
This study tested whether giving the immunotherapy drug pembrolizumab before and after local ablation (using heat or radiation to destroy tumors) could help shrink liver cancers in 30 patients with early-stage hepatocellular carcinoma. The goal was to see if this approach could make more patients eligible for ablation and delay cancer recurrence. The trial was completed and focused on measuring tumor response and time to recurrence.
