New combo therapy aims to halt liver damage from hepatitis b

Summary
This study tests whether adding peginterferon alfa-2b to standard antiviral drugs can improve liver health in people with compensated hepatitis B cirrhosis. About 30 adults will be randomly assigned to receive either the combination or antivirals alone. The main goal is to see if the combination leads to better liver tissue scores and reduces the risk of liver cancer or liver failure.
