Diabetes study: buddying up boosts Pill-Taking and Self-Care

NCT ID NCT07145983

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study looked at whether joining a peer support group helps people with diabetes take their medication as prescribed, improve self-care habits, and learn more about their condition. 120 adults with diabetes who were already receiving regular care at a hospital in Ethiopia were randomly assigned to either a peer support group or to continue their usual care. The researchers measured medication adherence, self-care practices, and diabetes knowledge using questionnaires and pill counts.
