First seen Jan 30, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study looked at 676 children in Swedish pediatric intensive care units (PICUs) to find out how often they develop delirium and what factors increase their risk. Delirium is a sudden change in mental state causing confusion or trouble paying attention. Researchers used a simple screening tool called the Cornell Assessment of Pediatric Delirium (CAPD) to check children daily. The goal was to better understand this condition and improve care for hospitalized children.
