Light therapy plus chemo shows promise for tough bile duct cancer

Summary
This study tests a new treatment for people with advanced bile duct cancer that has caused a blockage. It combines a light-activated drug (photodynamic therapy) with standard chemotherapy. The goal is to see if this combination helps patients live longer and controls the disease better. About 30 adults with inoperable cancer will take part.
