New combo therapy aims to control returning throat cancer

NCT ID NCT07332247

First seen Jan 12, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study tests a treatment plan for people whose nasopharyngeal cancer has returned after initial therapy. Participants first receive a combination of immunotherapy (PD-1 inhibitor) and chemotherapy. Those who respond well are then randomly assigned to get either immediate re-irradiation or delayed re-irradiation only if needed. The goal is to see if adding radiation right away improves survival compared to waiting. The study involves 94 adults aged 18-70 with a specific type of cancer that cannot be surgically removed.
