Heart valve hope: cholesterol drug may delay surgery

Summary
This study tests whether a class of cholesterol-lowering drugs called PCSK9 inhibitors can prevent or delay the worsening of calcific aortic stenosis, a condition where the heart valve becomes stiff and narrow. Researchers will enroll 160 adults with mild to moderate disease who do not yet need valve replacement. Participants will receive either the drug or a placebo, and the team will measure changes in valve function and calcium buildup over time using echocardiograms and CT scans.
