First seen Apr 05, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study tests whether placing a temporary plastic tube (stent) in the pancreas during a gallbladder-preserving stone removal procedure can prevent pancreatitis, a common complication. About 88 adults with both gallbladder and common bile duct stones will be randomly assigned to receive either standard medication alone or medication plus the stent. Researchers will track who develops pancreatitis and compare recovery times and costs.
