Green dye may cut pancreatic leaks after surgery

NCT ID NCT07502053

First seen May 04, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study tests whether a special green dye (indocyanine green) can help surgeons see blood flow in the pancreas during surgery. The goal is to reduce the risk of a pancreatic fistula, a common and serious leak that happens after the Whipple procedure. About 40 adults having this surgery will be randomly assigned to get the dye or standard care. The study is in early stages and aims to see if the dye helps surgeons remove poorly perfused tissue, potentially lowering complication rates.
