Nerve block fails to ease hysterectomy pain in new study
NCT ID NCT07046949
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a special nerve block (anterior quadratus lumborum block) given before abdominal hysterectomy could reduce pain and the need for strong painkillers like morphine. 56 women having surgery for fibroids or other uterine conditions took part. The results showed the nerve block did not improve pain relief, reduce opioid use, or speed up recovery after anesthesia.
