New nerve block could slash opioid use after gallbladder surgery

NCT ID NCT07003698

First seen May 18, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tested whether a rectointercostal nerve block can reduce pain and the need for strong painkillers (opioids) after laparoscopic gallbladder removal. Sixty adults having elective surgery received the block as part of their pain management plan. The goal was to see if this approach leads to less opioid use and better pain control after surgery.
