Eye drops may ease pain in second cataract surgery

NCT ID NCT07291089

First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tested whether certain anti-inflammatory eye drops (pranoprofen or prednisolone) can reduce pain during second-eye cataract surgery compared to standard lubricating drops. 126 adults aged 50 and older who had already had one cataract surgery took part. The drops were given four times before surgery, and patients rated their pain afterward. The goal was to find a simple way to make the second surgery more comfortable.
