Newborn pain relief under the microscope: cleft lip surgery study

NCT ID NCT06067854

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looked back at the records of 111 newborns who had surgery to repair a cleft lip. The goal was to see how much opioid pain medicine they needed during and after surgery, comparing those who got a regional nerve block with those who did not. Researchers also checked when babies first ate after surgery and any complications. The study is complete and aims to improve pain management for these tiny patients.
