New pain block study aims to cut opioid use after hernia surgery

Summary
This study tests two types of pain-relief injections given before hernia surgery to see which one works better. About 200 adults having hernia repair will receive either Exparel or Marcaine in a nerve block. The goal is to find which drug lowers pain scores and reduces the need for opioid pain pills after surgery.
