Before or after the cut? study aims to find best time for pain block to reduce opioid need

NCT ID NCT07064200

Summary

This study is looking at whether giving a numbing injection (called a TAP block) *before* making the surgical cut leads to better pain control and less need for opioid painkillers after surgery, compared to giving the same block *after* the cut. It involves 150 adults having planned abdominal or weight-loss surgery. The main goal is to see which timing helps patients have less pain and use fewer opioids for up to 90 days after their operation.
