New pain block method could simplify recovery after major abdominal surgery

NCT ID NCT05972018

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 34 times

Summary

This study tests a single-dose pain block against the standard method that uses a continuous catheter for pain relief after open abdominal surgery. About 14 adults having elective vascular surgery will take part. The goal is to see if the single-dose approach is safer, cheaper, and just as effective at controlling pain and reducing opioid use.
