New pain block method could cut costs and complications after major abdominal surgery

NCT ID NCT05972018

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 38 times

Summary

This study tests a single-dose pain block against the standard method that uses a continuous catheter for pain relief after open abdominal surgery. Fourteen adults having elective vascular surgery will be randomly assigned to one of the two approaches. Researchers will compare pain scores, side effects, costs, and recovery time to see if the simpler single-dose method works just as well or better.
