New heart catheter shows promise for stubborn irregular heartbeat

Summary
This study tested a special catheter system to treat people with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (a type of irregular heartbeat) that didn't get better with medication. 237 participants underwent a procedure to isolate the heart's pulmonary veins using the THERMOCOOL SMARTTOUCH SF catheter and TRUPULSE generator. The goal was to see if the system is safe and can stop irregular heart rhythm episodes without needing lifelong drugs.
