First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 34 times
Summary
This study tested whether a high-flow nasal cannula (a device that delivers warm, moist oxygen at high speeds) reduces deaths compared to standard oxygen therapy in 1,504 adults with severe breathing failure. Participants had low oxygen levels and rapid breathing. The goal was to see if the high-flow method improved survival at 28 days. Results help guide emergency oxygen treatment.
