First seen Jan 29, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study looks at whether giving older patients (65+) a lower (40%) or higher (80%) amount of oxygen during laparoscopic stomach or bowel surgery helps protect their lungs afterward. About 1,176 participants will be randomly assigned to one of the two oxygen levels. The goal is to see which group has better lung function and fewer breathing problems after surgery.
