Could better oxygen monitoring prevent dangerous surgery leaks?
NCT ID NCT07099820
Summary
This study aimed to understand if low oxygen delivery to tissues during surgery increases the risk of a dangerous internal leak after colon cancer removal. Researchers observed 100 adults undergoing planned laparoscopic colon surgery, using a non-invasive finger monitor to track oxygen delivery. The goal was to gather knowledge to potentially improve future surgical safety, not to test a new treatment.
