Extra scans could halve stillbirths: 56,000-Pregnancy trial underway

NCT ID NCT03662178

First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study tests a new care pathway (OxGRIP) that adds extra ultrasound scans at 28, 32, and 36 weeks of pregnancy to better detect babies that are not growing well. Poor growth is a major risk factor for stillbirth, but current care often misses it. By comparing outcomes before and after the pathway was introduced in over 56,000 pregnancies, researchers hope to show that more scans can prevent stillbirths and other complications without causing unnecessary interventions.
