New study aims to prevent skin woes for ostomy patients

NCT ID NCT07460323

First seen Mar 19, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study will compare two types of ostomy seals (rings placed around the stoma) to see which one better prevents skin problems after ostomy surgery. About 107 adults in the UK who have a colostomy, ileostomy, or urostomy will take part. The seals will be applied at the first pouch change after surgery, and the researchers will track skin complications like irritation, bleeding, and growths.
