NCT ID NCT07581990
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested a special dental appliance to correct underbite (Class III malocclusion) in 36 children aged 7 to 12. The device combines a fixed inclined plane on the lower front teeth with rotated brackets on the upper front teeth to encourage proper jaw growth. After 6 months, success was measured by improved bite alignment and jaw position using X-rays.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Inclined plane appliance combined with variable bracket placement
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this approach could offer a non-surgical way to correct underbite in children, improving bite and facial appearance.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early study with only 36 participants and no control group. Results may not apply to all children, and the device may not work for everyone.
