Summary
This study tested whether a daily oral bacterial extract, Broncho-Vaxom, could prevent wheezing lower respiratory tract infections in infants at high risk for asthma. Over 800 infants aged 6-18 months received either the extract or a placebo for 10 days each month over two years. The main goal was to see if the treatment delayed the first wheezing episode during a three-year follow-up period.
