First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study tests whether a daily oral dose of cannabidiol (CBD), a compound from cannabis, can help people stop smoking tobacco. Fifty adults who smoke more than 10 cigarettes a day and want to quit will take CBD or a placebo during several practice quit attempts over 6 weeks. Researchers will measure abstinence using breath carbon monoxide levels and study how CBD affects smoking behavior.
