First seen Nov 17, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looks at whether taking oral antibiotics the day before planned colon surgery can lower the chance of getting an infection after the operation. About 630 adults having elective colon surgery will be randomly assigned to receive either antibiotics or no antibiotics. The goal is to see if this simple step makes a difference in preventing surgical site infections within 30 days.
