First seen Nov 24, 2025 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tests whether a mix of ketamine and dexmedetomidine (ketodex) can reduce the need for strong painkillers after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy in obese patients. Eight adults with a BMI over 35 are randomly assigned to receive either ketodex or standard opioid-based anesthesia. The main goal is to measure total pain medication use in the first 24 hours after surgery.
