AI and peer coaches join forces to fight opioid overdose deaths in black and latinx communities

NCT ID NCT06573476

First seen May 01, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study aims to reduce racial gaps in opioid overdose deaths by training peer recovery coaches using a video-based program and an AI texting tool. The coaches will support 180 Black and Latinx adults with opioid use disorder in New York City, helping them connect to treatment like buprenorphine and social services. The goal is to see if this approach improves access to care and reduces stigma, with results used to plan larger future studies.
