Surgeons test which mesh placement causes fewer complications after hernia surgery
NCT ID NCT07401446
Summary
This study compared two common surgical techniques for repairing a hernia that occurs at a previous surgery scar. 350 adult patients were randomly assigned to have their surgical mesh placed either in front of the abdominal muscle (onlay) or behind it (sublay). Researchers tracked patients for three months to see which method led to fewer complications like infections, fluid buildup, or the hernia coming back.
