First seen Dec 24, 2025 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This pilot study tests whether taking ondansetron (a nausea medicine) before an unsedated upper endoscopy can reduce gagging, nausea, and overall discomfort. About 40 patients who have had this procedure before will either get ondansetron plus a numbing gargle, or just the gargle. Afterward, they rate their discomfort to see if the drug helps.
