First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study tested whether omeprazole, a common heartburn medication, could prevent nerve damage caused by oxaliplatin chemotherapy in people with colorectal or pancreatic cancer. 46 patients were given omeprazole alongside their chemo to see if it reduced painful nerve symptoms. The goal was to find a simple, safe way to protect patients from a common and serious side effect.
