New hope for tough bladder cancers: drug targets DNA repair weakness

NCT ID NCT03375307

First seen Sep 30, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 35 times

Summary

This study tests a drug called olaparib in people with advanced bladder or urinary tract cancers that have specific DNA repair problems. Olaparib works by blocking a protein that cancer cells need to fix their damaged DNA, which may stop tumor growth. The trial aims to see if the drug can shrink tumors and help people live longer. It is for patients whose cancer has spread and who have certain gene mutations.
