NCT ID NCT04559581

First seen Feb 06, 2026

Summary

This completed study monitored 425 Japanese patients with progressive fibrosing interstitial lung disease (PF-ILD) who were prescribed Ofev capsules. The main goal was to track side effects, especially liver problems, in everyday medical practice. Researchers recorded any adverse drug reactions reported by doctors or the sponsor. The study excluded patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis or PF-ILD due to scleroderma.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

nintedanib (Ofev)

What this could lead to

If successful, this study could confirm that Ofev is safe and tolerable for Japanese patients with PF-ILD, supporting its continued use to slow lung damage.

What could go wrong

This is an observational study, not a controlled trial, so it cannot prove effectiveness. Side effects like liver problems remain a risk.
