Weight matters: study links higher BMI to anesthesia challenges in surgery

NCT ID NCT07367386

Summary

This study looked back at medical records to understand how a person's body weight affects the success of spinal or epidural anesthesia during planned C-sections. Researchers analyzed data from 1,917 people with a high body mass index (BMI) to see if heavier weight made the anesthesia less effective or led to more complications for the parent or baby. The goal was to gather knowledge to help improve anesthesia planning and safety for future patients.
