Summary
This study tested whether giving patients a special 'immunomodulating' oral nutrition formula before major surgery helps reduce complications. Researchers enrolled 300 well-nourished patients to compare this special nutrition against standard options. The goal was to see if it actually lowers infection rates and other surgical problems, as previous research has been mixed.
