Simple nurse training cuts deadly potassium risk for dialysis patients
NCT ID NCT07277530
Summary
This study tested whether a nurse-led education program could help dialysis patients in Morocco manage their diet to lower dangerous potassium levels, since many clinics lack dietitians. Thirty adult patients on hemodialysis received sessions about potassium in food, fluid intake, and physical activity. The program successfully reduced patients' average potassium levels and increased the number of patients in the safe range, offering a practical solution for clinics with limited resources.
