First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study investigates whether germs called non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) that cause lung infections in people with cystic fibrosis (CF) live in home water systems. Researchers will collect water, dust, and soil samples from 120 CF patients' homes—half with NTM infection and half without—to compare germ types. The goal is to understand how people get exposed and find ways to prevent future infections.
