First seen Apr 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study looks at how a standard deep-cleaning treatment for gum disease changes certain proteins in the saliva of smokers and non-smokers. Researchers will measure these proteins and gum health before and six weeks after treatment in 44 adults with moderate gum disease. The goal is to understand how smoking affects the body's response to gum therapy.
