New vaginal cup offers hope for women with fistula awaiting surgery

NCT ID NCT05444504

First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study tests two insertable devices—a vaginal cup alone and a cup attached to a leg bag—to help women with obstetric fistula manage urine leakage without surgery. About 100 women who are waiting for fistula repair or whose surgery didn't work will try both devices to see which works better and is more acceptable. The goal is to improve quality of life and provide a low-cost, non-surgical option.
