Shocking ankle recovery: electric pulses may speed healing after fracture surgery

NCT ID NCT06370325

First seen Mar 03, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study tests whether a device that sends mild electrical pulses to the calf muscle can help people regain strength and movement after ankle fracture surgery. Twenty adults will be randomly assigned to receive either standard physical therapy alone or physical therapy plus the electrical stimulation. The goal is to see if the added stimulation improves muscle strength, walking, and daily function.
