NCT ID NCT01891812

First seen Jan 31, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This small study looked at whether nitrous oxide (laughing gas) can quickly relieve severe pain in children with sickle cell disease during a vaso-occlusive crisis. Five children aged 8 to 18 who still had high pain after standard treatment received nitrous oxide in the emergency room. The goal was to measure how much pain dropped right after and how long relief lasted.
