New hope for older leukemia patients: drug combo targets hard-to-treat AML

NCT ID NCT03513484

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study tests a new combination of two drugs, nintedanib and azacitidine, in older adults with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) who cannot have or do not want standard intensive chemotherapy. The goal is to find the best dose of nintedanib when given with azacitidine and to see what side effects occur. Participants receive treatment for up to 6 cycles, and may continue if it helps, until their leukemia worsens or side effects become too serious.
