Breakthrough tongue swab test could replace unpleasant sputum samples for TB detection
NCT ID NCT06984887
Summary
This study is testing two new tuberculosis (TB) diagnostic tests against the current standard method to see if they're as accurate and easier to use. Researchers will enroll 6,100 people in Pakistan who are being screened for TB, comparing tongue swab samples to traditional sputum samples. The study aims to find faster, more convenient, and cost-effective ways to detect TB, which could help identify cases earlier and improve treatment.
