Safer seizure shield for moms? trial tests new option for dangerous pregnancy complication

NCT ID NCT07220902

Summary

This study aims to find out if a medication called levetiracetam works as well as the current standard (magnesium sulfate) at preventing life-threatening seizures in pregnant people with severe preeclampsia. It will enroll 1,240 participants who are 32 weeks pregnant or more. The researchers hope the new option might have fewer serious side effects for mothers and babies.
