New gene test could speed up pneumonia diagnosis in ICU

NCT ID NCT07626073

First seen Jun 05, 2026

Summary

This study compares a new targeted gene sequencing tool (RPIP) with standard methods to detect pneumonia-causing germs and their drug resistance in ICU patients. Researchers aim to see if RPIP provides faster, more accurate results to guide treatment. About 200 adults with pneumonia in intensive care will take part across multiple hospitals.
