New PET tracer could spot hidden heart inflammation

NCT ID NCT07481136

First seen Mar 22, 2026 · Last updated Jun 11, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This early-phase study tests a new PET imaging tracer (64Cu-GRIP B) designed to detect active inflammation in the heart caused by acute myocarditis. The tracer targets a protein released by immune cells that damage heart muscle. Ten adults with suspected acute myocarditis will receive the tracer and undergo PET scans to see if it can accurately identify inflamed areas. The goal is to improve diagnosis and potentially monitor treatment response in the future.
