Cheap mask could revolutionize sleep apnea screening
NCT ID NCT06050720
First seen May 14, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tested a new, low-cost device called Apne-Scan, which is a simple mask that monitors breathing during sleep to screen for sleep apnea. 40 adults referred to a sleep clinic wore the mask at home alongside a standard sleep test. The goal was to see if the cheaper mask could accurately detect breathing pauses and shallow breathing, potentially making sleep apnea screening more accessible.
